Wheat grass Incorporate into Diet for Energy, Red Blood Cells, Fertility

I was introduced to wheat grass about 2 years ago. I was enticed by the big colorful poster that showed 2 pounds of broccoli, dark green lettuce, cauliflower, beets, and any other not so great tasting, but great for you vegetable. The tiny little 1 ounce cup of wheat grass juice was SO much more interesting! I find it important to eat healthy in order to get more vitamins, but the wheat grass is really easy!

I feel great when I have some juice, but I wanted to know more about the benefits. Wheat grass is best known for its ability to increase the red blood cell count. Increased red blood cells mean that more oxygen is given to every cell in the body. With more oxygen in the body, the body is able to do more work; fending off illness, healing wounds faster, helping with anemia, and performing better when in physical exercise.

I read an article a couple years ago that said women crave chocolate when they are menstruating because chocolate contains magnesium. How nice is it that our body knows what to crave in order to get the vitamins and minerals it needs. Now all that is left is to have the wheat grass, fill up on the vitamins and minerals, and NOT have those crazy cravings for chocolate! It’s that simple right? Well sort of- the starch that is found in the wheat grass is easily converted to simple sugars in our blood stream, so that will give a quick and healthy energy source. Out of the 102 vitamins that science has found wheat grass has 92 of them. 20 minutes after a 1 ounce orally taken shot of the juice the body will have absorbed and converted all of the goodness. I am not implying the cheesy, spicy, crunchy craving for some amazing nachos will go away, but I think it is easier to move in a healthier direction if I know I am already off to a healthy start.

I want to list some of the most beneficial vitamins that are found in wheat grass. Vitamins A, B12, C and E as well as folic acid, phosphorus, iron, and calcium are abundant in wheat grass. Amino acids, active enzymes and the 70% chlorophyll all contribute to amazing health benefits that include; aiding in digestion, building lean muscle, and increasing hemoglobin production.

All of this is great, but how is it that wheatgrass will increase fertility? Women and doctors have raved about the ability to lower a women’s FSH; a hormone that may reduce a women’s number of fertile eggs.

Wheat grass comes in a variety of forms. My favorite is the juice that can be grown and juiced at home or (and always the case with me) grown, juiced, and cleaned up by someone else at a local juice or health food store. I have not had any experience with wheat grass pills, and have heard that some of the benefits are destroyed if not taken in the freshly juiced, raw state.
